Microchipping

Microchipping is a quick, cost-effective method of providing permanent identification for both indoor and outdoor pets. You never know when your pet will make a quick dash out of the front door or out of your fenced yard because of loud noises or bad weather. Before you know it, your pet is out of sight, confused, scared, and hiding from everyone. Instead of having to worry about whether or not their collar and tag will stay on them so that you can be contacted, have your pet microchipped and put yourself at ease. You can have your pet microchipped during any visit to Bluff Park Animal Clinic.

A microchip is a small device, about the size of a grain of rice, that is inserted under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades. Each chip has a unique registration number that is linked with your pet’s name, owner’s name, and contact information in a national recovery database. It is standard practice at all animal shelters and veterinary offices to scan stray pets for a microchip as soon as they are found. If the pet has a microchip, then the appropriate pet recovery center can be contacted, and they, in turn, will contact you to arrange for a reunion with your pet.

We highly recommend microchipping your indoor and outdoor pets. Once your pet is microchipped with a PetLink chip, we will complete the registration process and all you will have to do is to keep it updated in the event that your contact information should change. We love happy endings to stories about lost pets, so please consider microchipping your pet today.

Since 1972, Bluff Park Animal Clinic has been helping sick animals get well, and promoting responsible pet ownership through preventative health care and client education.
